a nice reminder.

it's easy for us to look at the short term goals since it's most tangible, but when we look at the bigger picture, everything seems to make more sense.

I been reading a Puritan writer, John Owen, and he describes how believers hold communion with Jesus in grace by a marriage relationship. Here's an excerpt:

Believers are a great delight to Christ. The day of his wedding, of taking poor sinful souls into his loving care, is the day of the gladness of his heart. John the Baptist was but a friend of the bridegroom, who stood and heard his voice when Christ was taking his bride to himself, and he rejoiced greatly (John 3:29). How much more, then, must be the joy and gladness of the bridegroom, as the prophet Zephaniah tells us: 'He will rejoice over you with gladness, he will rejoice over you with singing' (Zeph 3:17).

That's some good stuff!

Hmm, in one of my classes last semester we went through the book of Job and talked a lot about suffering and the Lord's role in it. I came away encouraged and refreshed even though several points that were made were pretty grim.

It's too bad that a lot of people fail to trust in Him and remind themselves of how good He really is when He's doing something that they don't understand. =(
